Robert “Bob” D. Sinders, 91, of Brazil, passed away April 19, 2016 at Cloverleaf Nursing Home with his family by his side.
Bob was born September 21, 1924 the son of the late Irvin Sinders and Nellie Sinders Hostetler. He graduated from Coal City High School. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was eventually awarded an honorable discharge. He married the love of his life Cathryn Ann (Wiggins) Sinders in February of 1946. They eclipsed 70 years of marriage this year. Bob worked at Union Carbide as plant superintendent until his retirement. Along with his wife, he was a member of Staunton United Methodist Church. He served as Sunday School superintendent for over thirty years. Bob enjoyed sharpening his clipper blades, working in the yard and garage, being outdoors, and was known as a jack of all trades. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years Cathryn Sinders; daughters, Terri Hardey (Richard), Nikki Fox (Peter Livingston); grandchildren, Chris Hardey (Deanna), Brad Hardey, Wendy Kreiger (Andrew), Joshua Hardey (Sky), Shaun Hardey, Michael Fox (Jennifer), Heather O’Neal (Joe), Ashley Light (Jason), Patrick Fox; great grandchildren, Britnee, Lexi, Kamryn, Devon, Andrianna, Ashlynn, Jordan, Brayden H., Brayln, Brayden K., Kynsley, River, Alex, Gabriel, Sebastian, Violet, Lilly, Collin, Hannah; great great granddaughter, Addilyn; longtime friend, Gary Fox; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be private with burial following at Clearview Cemetery.
