Scams are running rampant this year and another scam has been reported in Hendricks County. The scam this time involves the thieves making phone calls to residents and claiming to be from the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department. The spoof caller then advises the victim that they are wanted for failure to appear in court and that the victim will be arrested if they don’t send money through Western Union. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department has posted on Facebook that they will never call on telephone and ask for bond money via Western Union in lieu of arrest. If you receive a call like this and you are concerned that you might legitimately have a warrant out for your arrest, please contact the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department administrative office at (317) 745-6269 to verify the information.
