Greencastle Police Chief Tom Sutherlin has told wreb news that his Department is still receiving calls from citizens about two scams. The first is what is called the jury scam and is when Scammers are calling potential victims, and telling them they’ve missed jury duty and must pay a fine, before a warrant is issued for their arrest. Scammers tell the victim to purchase a “Recharge Voucher” card, then later give the Scammers the numbers from the back of the card. The second is the familiar IRS scam where victims are told they owe taxes and will be arrested if they do not use a prepaid charge card to fix the situation. GPD has already taken victim complaints, and urges citizens not to give out personal information. If you have any questions regarding the Scams, you can contact GPD at (765) 653-3155.
