James L. Blankenship, 31, of Cloverdale, Wanted out of Owen County on a warrant for failure to appear, was apprehended last night around 11pm near Cunot, Indiana. Indiana State Police Trooper David Cox Jr. had been assisting Cloverdale Police Sergeant Charlie Hallam locate the driver of an abandoned vehicle near State Road 243 and County Road 1000 South, when Trooper Cox spotted a male walking south on State Road 243. When the male noticed the trooper, he fled on foot through backyards of area residents. The suspect was pursued on foot by Trooper Cox and taken into custody moments later with assistance of CPD Sergeant Hallam and K9 “Chewy”. Blankenship was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Resisting Law Enforcement, and is also being held on the Owen County warrant. CPD continues to investigate the abandoned vehicle.
