Political Experts and Politicians are eagerly awaiting who President Obama will select as a nominee to fill the current vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court with the sudden passing of Antonin Scalia. It has been reported that one of the nominees is Jane Louise Kelly a 51 year old Greencastle native who graduated GHS in 1983. Kelly is currently serving in Ohio as a US circuit court judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals. As exciting as this possibility is, there is republican opposition in the senate that would rather wait until the next president takes office before appointing a new Associate Supreme Court Justice. If the senate is successful in their endeavors to delay the nomination process until the next Presidency, then the US would not see the vacancy on the Supreme Court filled until around Dec. 2016 or January 2017.
