Congress has recently passed a bill that will put a permanent ban on local and state internet taxes in the United States. The bill went in front of congress today and after a bit of debating the bill was passed 75-20 in favor of the bill. Congress felt that states and local cities imposing a tax on internet services would create an unnecessary boundary for working class families to have access to the internet. The last step in this process is for the bill to be presented to the president and signed into law. After president Obama signs the bill into law, the ban will take effect in 2020.
