North Putnam High School is excited to announce that we will host a Unified Basketball Game at halftime of the boys varsity basketball game against Monrovia High School. Kaelynn Abner, junior at North Putnam High School, and Kyrsa Gaylan, student at Monrovia High School, are both members of the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee and have helped organize this game. Unified basketball is an opportunity for Special Olympic Athletes to compete with and against their non-disabled peers. On Friday, January 15th North Putnam’s Unified Basketball team will compete against a team from Monrovia. We are excited to host this game and encourage both communities to attend and support their student athletes. Following the game Kaelynn and Kyrsa will challenge the spectators to three minutes of madness where they will attempt to collect as many donations from fans as possible to be given to Special Olympics of Indiana. These funds as well as other funds collected by North Putnam High School will then be presented to Robert Faulkens, Assistant Commissioner of the IHSAA, and Jeff Mohler, Vice President of Programs and C.O.O. of Special Olympics Indiana, between the 3rd and 4th quarter of the game.
This is an exciting opportunity for our student athletes and we are looking forward to an exciting night at North Putnam High School.
