Man Nearly Dies but Saved by Police Using Lifesaving Drug

At 12:20am on January 9th, Officer Javie Settlemoir and Sergeant Ron Kneeland of the Danville Police Department were dispatched to an overdose emergency on Columbia Street in Danville. A male was inside a vehicle and was barely breathing after taking a lethal dose of heroin. Deputy Robert Lenover with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department was near the location and assisted the officers. Deputy Lenover administered Narcan, a drug that reverses the effects of opiate overdoses, to the male. The drug quickly made the male alert and able to breath normally until Center Township Medics arrived. The male was transported to Hendricks Regional Hospital.
