You can always take it to a local recycling site, or keep it on your property as a bird and wildlife shelter, chip it up into mulch, or cut it and use for firewood. Generally the DNR does not recommend putting the tree into lakes as it doesn’t really help the fish grow. In Indiana in order to put trees into freshwater lakes it requires a license.
