The 4-H online open enrollment for Putnam County will end on January 15. A study completed by Tufts University in 2013 showed that students who take part in 4-H excel in several areas over others who don’t participate in 4-H. Those areas include being 4 times more likely to contribute to their communities between 7th and 12th grade, they are 2 times more likely to make healthier choices in 7th grade, and 2 times more likely to choose STEM fields as extra curricular activities- those are areas that relate to Science, Teaching, Engineering, and Math- between 10th and 12th grade. You can enroll online at IN DOT 4HONLINE DOT COM or by visiting the Purdue Extension Office at 152 East Columbia. There is a fee of $25 per child. For questions, call the Purdue Extension Office at 765-653-8411 or visit www.extension.purdue.edu/putnam for general information.
