James “Jim” Richard Ferry

James Richard (Jim) Ferry 78, of Brazil passed away at his home on December 19, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.

Jim was born on July 25, 1937 in Brazil to Roy and Faye Ferry. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Norman Brush, his father and stepmother Elda Ferry, as well as a brother Bill Ferry and a sister Barbara Thomas.

On May 27, 1966, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Burk. In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by his daughter Jana Trusler (Brad) of Brazil, brother Ron Ferry and wife Constance of Fillmore, step brother Darrell Kersey and wife Joyce of Indianapolis, 9 nieces and nephews and countless other friends and family.

After graduating from high school in Cedarville, Ohio, Jim served his country as a cryptographer in the United States Air Force. Jim served two tours of duty, much of the time in Europe where he developed an enjoyment of German language and culture.

In 1995, Jim retired from a 25year career as a trackman for Penn Central and Conrail. In his spare time, Jim was an avid reader of history books, crypto-quote enthusiast and dabbled in painting and woodcarving. He enjoyed fishing with friends, mushroom hunting, walking his dog Tribble and sharing his fondness for Frank and Ernest humor with Facebook friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his daughter and listening to his wife sing in the Nazarene Church Choir where they have attended for more than 25 years.

A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, December 29 at the Brazil Nazarene Church at 6pm with Pastors Marlin Betts and Steve Nance officiating. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 4 – 6pm. Per Jim’s wish cremation will take place. The family has entrusted French Funeral Home with his care.
