Car Break Ins on the Rise in Indiana

Reports of car burglaries have been on the rise for Hoosiers across the state especially in densely populated areas. The most recent case of car burglaries in our area has been in Brazil on December 20th. The Brazil Police Department have been receiving multiple calls from victims of car burglaries and have begun investigations to find those responsible. The string of thefts occurred on north Pine and Sycamore streets and again at Charles B. Hall. The areas between the intersection of Murphy Avenue and Vandalia and U.S. 40 have also been affected by these thieves. Police suspect that the break-ins occurred between Thursday December 17th, Friday December 18th, and Saturday December 19th. Police are warning citizens to lock their doors and keep valuables either out of sight or on person. There has also been reports of thieves taking advantage of unsupervised vehicles warming up.
