On Friday night there was plenty of basketball action within the four county schools. There were eight total games–four girls and four boys– and it was a good night for it.
Doug and Johnathon were at South Putnam where the girls beat South Vermillion 69-46 and the boys lost an 11-point fourth quarter lead to lose to the Wildcats 65-61.
Cloverdale traveled to Edgewood and the Mustangs came away with both victories winning in the girls’ game 47-30 and the boys’ game 78-69. Clovers’ girls coach Matthew Langdon had this to say about his girls’ performance:
“We got off to a slow start offensively, and we got behind 12 early in the game but once again had a great response and went on a 15-3 run to take the lead. I was very proud of our girls ability to continue to battle in a very physical game. We just could not get some shots to fall in the second half, and they eventually extended their lead. I am never satisfied with a loss, but it was a game that we will take a lot from moving forward.”
The Greencastle girls traveled to West Vigo and won 54-30. Gracie Smith led the Tiger Cubs with 12 points. The boys lost to the Vikings 48-35.
North Putnam hosted Owen Valley and both Cougar teams lost. The girls lost 40-35 and the boys lost 43-31.
