Jackie “Jack” Harrison 80 years old of Brazil passed away Tuesday December 1, 2015 at home with family following long battle with cancer.
Jackie was born in Clay County to Joseph and Dorthy Harrison.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marilyn McKenzie Harrison and four children. Tina Glassburn of Harmony, Robert Harrison and wife Lisa of Brazil, Jacquelyn Smith and husband David of Brazil, Carla Niemann and husband Brian of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Four grandchildren Lori Treash Cichanowiz and husband Ben of Winchester Kentucky, Nina Treash of Terre Haute, Brittany Harrison Edwards and husband Jeremy of Pimento , Austin Harrison and finance Gabby Hale of Sullivan. Three great grandchildren Jayce Edwards, Greyson Edwards and Colton Harrison.
Jackie was the oldest of nine siblings. Surviving Marlyn Wolf, Diana Pearce and husband Tom, Darrel Harrison and wife Carol, Terry Clodfelter and Cathy Cooksey and husband Don. Along with his uncle Dick Harrison, numerous cousins, nieces and newphews.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Alberta Stevens, Brenda Godsey, and Larry Harrison.
Jackie was a carpenter most of his adulthood. He was member of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and served as the fire chief during his time. He was an active member and Commander of the Clay County Search and Rescue for numerous years. Jackie enjoyed the outdoors, animals, camping with family and a huge fan of Gene Autry’s movies and music.
At the request of Jackie he wishes to be cremated with no viewing or services. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life Friday December 4, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at his daughter (Jacquelyn Smith) log home Jackie built, 6825 North Private Road 575 West Brazil, Indiana 47834. Family and friends are invited.
