Helen Christina Skelton

Helen Christina Skelton, 79, of Brazil, passed away at Regional Hospital, November 23, 2015.

She was born March 6, 1936, in Sullivan County, Indiana the daughter of Norman and Fredia (Case) Moore. Helen graduated from Fairbanks High School in Fairbanks, Indiana in 1955. After High School she began working at St. Anthony’s Hospital, in Terre Haute. There she met James H. Skelton whom she married November 2, 1957. They moved to Brazil in 1958 and she began working for Clay County Hospital. Helen worked for Clay County Health Center as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and retired after 25 years of service. Throughout her life she helped her husband, sons and grandsons in the Skelton Tree Service family as their secretary.

She and Jim have been members of the Community Missionary Church since 1972. Helen enjoyed traveling but most of all she loved being mom and grandma.

In addition to her parents Norman and Fredia Moore; she was preceded in death by a sister Rose Lee Crumley and granddaughter Sarah Roe.

She is survived by her husband James H. Skelton; children: James Michael Skelton and wife Sheila, Randy Lee Skelton and wife Susan, Don Skelton and wife Rhonda, Judy White and husband Bryant, Susan Clodfelter and husband Marty all of Brazil; grandchildren: Bill Skelton and wife Lana, Chris Skelton, Christeena Parksey, Wendi S. Griffin and husband Joey, Nicholas E. Skelton, Ashley Williams and husband Josh, James E. Skelton, Felicia Smith, Devin Dove, Donavon Dove, Junior Adams, Natosha Long and husband Tim, Zach White and wife Brandi, Justin White, Matthew Clodfelter, Zach Kirby and Kara Clodfelter; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Norma Jean Fishburn, Betty Johnson, Joann Bedwell, Philip Moore and Dwayne Moore; a brother-in-law Robert Skelton and a sister-in-law Jane H. Dailey as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana, 47834, November 29, 2015 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, Monday, at 1:00pm with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Bowling Green, Indiana.
