Tuesday night began the IHSAA boys’ basketball season and Greencastle and Cloverdale were both in action. The Clovers beat North Central (Farmersburg) on the road 68-39 and the Tiger Cubs lost to Crawfordsville at home 63-54.
For Cloverdale, junior Cooper Neese led the team with 26 points.
Greencastle had as big as a nine-point lead in the first half but two straight threes to start the third quarter from Crawfordsville forward Cameron Harris turned the tide. The Tiger Cubs struggled getting scorers involved and could not help themselves from the free-throw line only going 13-23.
Senion Ryan Coble led the Tiger Cubs with 34 points and sophomore Colin York had 14. Coble missed seven free throws. Only four players scored for Greencastle.
North Putnam plays Wednesday night at Southmont at 7:30 p.m. and South Putnam does not play until December 1 at Turkey Run.
