Grand Rapids, Mich. – The DePauw women’s soccer team could not find the equalizer in its second round matchup in the Division III NCAA Tournament on Saturday as they lost to Calvin College 1-0.
Calvin (20-2-2) scored the game’s only goal at the 27th minute when Paige Capel scored on a deflection off a corner kick by Sydney Kinney.
DePauw’s offensive opportunities came at minimum. They took just three shots and only had one on goal. Abbie Enright took two shots, and Jen Dimos took the other. Meanwhile, Calvin took 16 shots with seven on goal.
Goalkeeper Riley Riordan made six saves, while Calvin’s Holly Ellerbroek recorded the shutout with just one save.
Calvin also won the corner advantage 4-1 and committed more fouls at 15-7.
The loss ends DePauw’s season, which saw them capture the NCAC regular season and tournament championships, at 12-7-2.
