Dolores I. McCastle, 83, of Holton, Mich., passed away with her family by her side on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Spectrum Health — Zeeland Community Hospital.
Dolores was born on March 3, 1932, in Chicago to Charles Frederick and Elsie Emma (Schaeffer) Schroeder and married George Arthur McCastle on July 31, 1948, in Holton.
Dolores enjoyed taking care of animals, gardening and flowers, and traveling the United States. She cherished her family and liked pleasing the palate of family and friends.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George; children Gary L. (Patty) McCastle of Greencastle, Karen D. Nichols of Muskegon, Mich., and Mark A. (Wanda) McCastle of Holton; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her daughters Renee McCastle and Diane L. Moschke; brother Kenneth Schroeder; sister Irene Brandt; grandson Jared Nichols; and one stillborn son.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont, Mich., with Rev. Wayne McCastle and Chaplain Mark McCastle officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Clark Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider The American Red Cross or Salvation Army.
