Erma “Vonnie” LaVon Craig

Erma LaVon (Brown) Craig, 83, of Brazil, passed away October 23, 2015 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital with her family by her side.

Vonnie was born October 16, 1932 in Center Point, the daughter of the late Clyde and Pauline (Knox) Brown. She graduated from Ashboro High School in 1950. Following high school, she went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and then finished her education at Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree. She married the love of her life, Darrell L. Craig, on June 10, 1956. She was a homemaker, caring for her family in the early parts of her life. During the 1970’s she worked at Jackson Township School as a Secretary.

Vonnie enjoyed feeding the birds and being outdoors, loved reading mystery books amongst others, and spending time with her dog, Buttons. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially attending different sporting events for her grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell L. Craig, and son in law, Mark E. Taylor.

Vonnie is survived by her children, Katrina Taylor of Martinez, CA, Brad Craig of Brazil; grandchildren, Heather Lopez (Mark) of Bryan, Texas, Stephanie Murphy (John) of Antioch, California, Nathan Taylor of Dublin, California; Coleman Craig of Brazil, Jordan Lynch of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Hannah and Jonah Lopez; sister, Delores Thomas; as well a niece, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11am until 1pm at Lawson-Miller Chapel. Services will be held at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Givan officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Musical selections will be provided by Mr. Steve McCullough and vocalist Mrs. Joy Hart.
