Steven Paul Stader

Steven Paul Stader, 61, of Monrovia, suddenly passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.

He was born April 25, 1954, in Greencastle, to the late Paul F. and Anna Marie (Shields) Stader.

Steve graduated from Monrovia High School in 1973.

An honest, hardworking and selfless man, Steve worked for many years with Morgan County. He began work with the County Highway Department and later became a Sheriff’s Department deputy and also ran animal control for 10 years.

Steve was currently employed at Silvertip (AWG), and delivered propane. He was active in local 4-H clubs and worked as a ring man at many pig sales and auctions.

Steve possessed a strong and loud personality, which made it impossible for him to ever meet a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed coon hunting with his dogs or riding his mules. Above all, his pride and joy in life was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. His silly, ornery, unfiltered ways are now in the memories of his tall-tale stories and his kindhearted attitude will live in the hearts of those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly (VanArsdol) Stader; children Jason Stader (Heather) of Monrovia, Cassie Martin (Jerry) of Greencastle, Cody Stader (Megan) of Monrovia and Devin Stader (Jessica) of Clayton, and Allyson and Ryan Comer (Lydia), both of Indianapolis; grandchildren Raegan, Lane, Easton, Colt and Allyson; sister Jane Ann Crone of Monrovia; nieces and nephews Brady Crone (Cara), Dusty Crone (Karey) and Jena Crone (Tim), all of Monrovia; and great-nephews Greyson, Harris and Levi.

On Thursday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m., friends and family will meet at Light Memorial and Funeral Chapel, Monrovia, and follow in funeral procession to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. The procession will leave at 2:30 p.m. with the graveside service to begin at 3 p.m. Immediately following services, a gathering will take place at Edwards Farm, 7011 N. Kivett Rd., Monrovia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monrovia 4-H, 7834 N. Kivett Rd., Monrovia, IN 46157.
