Melanie Sue Ann (Pflueger) Brookshire, 36, of Roachdale and formerly from Brazil, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, October 16, 2015 after a long and valiant fight with cancer.
Melanie was born June 25, 1979, in Clay County, Indiana the daughter of Mark and Jane (Snow) Pflueger. Melanie graduated from Northview High School with the class of 1997 and later from Indiana State University with a degree in elementary education. Following college, Melanie worked at the preschool center for St. Mary’s of the Woods College. Melanie had been working at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, in admitting, since 2006.
Melanie loved scrapbooking and photography. She also enjoyed taking walks, with her husband, at state parks, working crafts and antiques and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Mark Pflueger and a sister Leslie Pflueger; paternal grandparents: Herman and Rosella Pflueger and maternal grandparents: David and Agnes Snow.
Melanie is survived by her husband David Brookshire whom she married September 14, 2014; her mother Jane O’Dell and husband Melvin of Brazil; a step brother Doug O’Dell and wife Marcy of Murray, Kentucky, a niece Hallie as well as a host of extended family members, co-workers and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 Wednesday, October 20, 2015 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, Thursday at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
