James D. Gibson, 79 of Brazil, passed away October 9, 2015 at Union Hospital at 12:37 am.
He was born September 16, 1936 in Vigo County, IN, the son of Vern Gibson and Florence Wilson Gibson. He was raised in Brazil, IN and graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1955. He developed his skill as a welder at a young age and following high school he worked for Twigg Industry and the American Industries. He later worked for AMAX Coal until his retirement. Following retirement, he was self-employed forming the business, Gibson Welding.
Jim was united in marriage to Patty Love Gibson on December 11, 1954. Together they have studied the Bible and Jim has taught Bible instruction for many years at House of Hope. He was an ordained minister and loved learning and teaching the Word. He and Patty had last attended Greenwood Baptist Church. He has been a devoted family man and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Patty Gibson of Brazil; their daughter Becki Wyndham and husband Larry of Brazil; grandchildren, Ostan Wyndham and wife Erica and Jamie Thiemann and husband Austin; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Anderson, Kai, and Nolan; one brother, Mike Gibson and wife Kathy of Greencastle and other extended family.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at Summit Lawn Cemetery at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the House of Hope are encouraged.
