Bobby Nance, 82, of Brazil, passed away September 22, 2015 at Union Hospital.
Bob was born May 20, 1933 in Frankfort, IN, the son of the late Robert and Marie (Kumpf) Nance. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1951. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life, Joanne Adams, on April 7, 1956. Bob worked at Arketex Brick Factory as a lab technician and Vigo County School Corporation as a school bus driver. He also was a crop and dairy farmer until his retirement in 2000.
He was a member of the Brazil Nazarene Church and American Legion Post 2. Bob was an over 50 year member of Masonic Lodge 541. He enjoyed farming, auctions, collecting eagles, hiding things and riding his little Ferguson tractor. Bob has never met a stranger and was known to talk your ear off. After his retirement from farming, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Cosmo, Hound Dog, Jody, Brown Dog and Paw Paws.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Joanne Nance; children, Robby Nance (Shelly), Ronald Nance; grandchildren, Wendy Thacker (Ron) of Coatsville, Rusty Nance and fiancé Heather Boutwell of Greencastle, Stacey Nance of Brazil, Steven Nance and fiancé Pam Padan of Rockville; great grandchildren, Krista Thacker, Lisa Thacker, Levi Nance and Olivia Nance; brother in law, Don Wagle (Becky); surviving aunt, Aunt Kate; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11am at French Funeral Home with Reverend George Hewitt and Reverend Paul Phipps officiating. Military Honors will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
