Greencastle, Ind. — The DePauw field hockey team dominated The College of Wooster on Saturday 5- 0 to improve to 2-0 in the NCAC.
Wooster drops to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC.
DePauw controlled possession for the majority of the game and outshot the Fighting Scots 18-5. The Tigers also had 12 corners to Wooster’s two.
Grace Goodbarn and Reilly Bruce each had a pair of goals for the Tigers. Goodbarn’s goals came at the 16:33 mark in the first half and the 61:50 mark in the second half. Bruce scored back-to-back goals at the 36:16 and 60:06 marks in the second half.
Goodbarn also recorded an assist on Bruce’s first goal. Both girls now have four goals on the year.
DePauw’s first goal came 12:10 into the contest when Corina Bourantas set up by the net and scored off a dish from Maddy Burds. It was her first goal of the season.
Head coach Erika Dombkowski said following the game they had a lot to work on last weekend and saw a lot of positive changes during the course of the game.
“I was mostly pleased of the second half,” Dombkowski said. “When we did something good we looked up and connected with each other. That’s going to be needed going into conference play.”
The Tigers are right back in action Sunday when they host Oberlin at noon.
