Jerry H. Detamore, 78, of Brazil, Indiana and formerly of Muskegon, Michigan passed away at home with his family by his side September 13, 2015.
Jerry was born November 8, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan the son of William Harold and Mary Josephine (Rice) Detamore. After graduating from high school he enrolled into the Brotherhood at Holy Cross at Notre Dame. He served as a Brother for more than 20 years where he worked as a cook, barber and nurse.
Jerry married Paula Ryan on February 3, 1979. Together they raised 3 children: Melissa, Todd and Brad.
Jerry was a member of Holy Rosary parish in Seelyville and Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil.
In his free time Jerry enjoyed fishing and watching Notre Dame Football.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: William Detamore and wife Loretta and Robert Detamore and wife Shirley and two sisters: Claire Detamore and Mary Jo Grimm and husband George “Bud”.
He is survived by his wife Paula of Brazil; a daughter Melissa Holloway and husband John of Indianapolis; two sons: Todd Detamore and wife Ariane of Riley and Brad Detamore and wife Brittany of Riley; grandson Rhett Detamore; sister: Elaine Stromp and husband Gary of Muskegon, Michigan; mother-in-law Mary Jane Ryan; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 5:00pm with Father John Hollowell officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 3pm until time of mass.
