Frances L. James

Frances L. James, 86, of Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, September 11, 2015 following a brief illness.

She was born November 21, 1928, the daughter of Raymond and Lena Edith (Youngblood) Boyce. Frances graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1946. She married William James August 30, 1947; he preceded her in death in 2006. Together they raised 5 children: William, Tom, Ronald, Wilma and Norma.

Frances enjoyed cooking and canning, going out to eat, flower gardening, sitting outside and spending time with family.

Frances had been a long time member of the Staunton United Methodist Church where she served as a volunteer at the food pantry.

She is survived by 4 children: Tom James and wife Patty of Brazil, Ronald James and wife Brenda of Terre Haute, Wilma Stamper and husband Dan of Brazil and Norma Whalen and husband John of Avon; grandchildren: Casey James, Hannah James, Michelle Searcy, Angela Dickison, Jason James, Billy James, Lora Gibson, Amy James, John Whalen III and Tammy Mason; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Waneta Todd as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband William H. James; a son William R. James; a grandson Scott A. James; 2 brothers: Morris “Red” Boyce and Emory Leroy Boyce; and a sister Loretta Myers.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana, 47834, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 5-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, Wednesday, at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visit to light a candle in her memory.
