DePauw Field Hockey Falls at Home

Greencastle, Ind. – Paige Berliner’s first half score put DePauw ahead early but four unanswered goals from Rhodes gave the Lynx the Sunday contest 4-1.

Berliner scored 14:15 into the game, and DePauw (2-2) held the lead until the 27:15 mark. That’s when Christina Difelice scored to tie it.

The game-winning goal came as time expired in the first half. A corner penalty extended play and allowed Maddie Smith to find the back of the goal to give Rhodes a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Erin Best connected at the 55:48 mark to make it 3-1, and with just a second remaining in the game Mary Rose Hazel scored her fourth goal of the year to put the game away.

Laura Eckelkamp (4-1) took the win in goal, while Sarah Guendert (2-2) took the loss. Each goalie made four saves.

There were plenty of penalty corners in the game. DePauw had 16 opportunities, and Rhodes had 14. Rhodes (4-1) took 11 total shots to DePauw’s nine.

The Tigers return to action next Saturday when they host Wooster.
