DePauw Mens’ Soccer Stays Undefeated

Greencastle, Ind. – Boosted by a two-goal performance from junior Zach Hoffman, the Tigers moved to 3-0 on the young season with a 3-0 win over Franklin College on Wednesday.

Hoffman put the Tigers ahead initially with a goal 19:51 into the contest. He later sealed the game in the second half, scoring on a laser from about 30 yards out at the 75:29 mark off an assist from Tommy Hinkebein.

Hoffman also aided the Tigers in their second goal, which put them ahead 2-0 at the half. Hoffman and Alieu Musa were both credited an assist as Jonathan Wheeler (30:19) recorded his first goal of the season.

Hoffman’s two goals gives him a team-high three goals on the season.

“We were dynamic and quick, and there’s two parts to being quick — physical and mental,” DePauw coach Brad Hauter said. “We had good support all over the field and didn’t give up many opportunities. It was a phenomenal effort from the guys.”

DePauw held the majority of possessions taking 25 shots to Franklin’s 5. They also took eight corners, while Franklin (0-3) recorded just one.

Goalkeeper Chris Yount improves to 3-0 on the season after recording his second shutout. Cody Chapman (0-3) took the loss in net for Franklin.

The Tigers are back in action at 4 p.m. Friday when they play at Olivet.
