AAA Driver Safety Tips for Back to School

With nearly all Indiana schools now back in session, AAA Hoosier Motor Club is offering back to school safety tips for drivers. According to AAA, nearly one fifth of traffic-related fatalities for children below the age of 15 are pedestrians, with more school age pedestrians killed between the hours of 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. than any other time of day. To help keep the children and yourself safe follow these easy safety tips:  Slow down to the posted speed limit in school zones, Obey traffic signs specifically in residential areas and school zones, Stay alert by being aware of what is on the road as well as the sidewalks,  Always stop for school buses when they stop,  Allow yourself extra travel time as back to school means increased traffic congestion, and finally Use extreme caution in bad weather.  Reduced visibility in inclimate weather makes it harder to spot children.
