Tiger Cubs Girl’s Soccer Beats Athenians

With two goals, a cool breeze, and plenty of sunshine on the home field the GHS girls soccer team delivered a win to the Greencastle Tiger Cubs team’s record. ​The girls playing against Crawfordsville during the first half were definitely a sight to see. The team made advances down the pitch and controlled the midfield action for most of the first half. A goal by Erin Thomas and an assist by Amelia Smith put the lady Tiger Cubs on the score board first.

The second half provided more continued connections, offensive runs, and open passing. A very early second goal during the second half was placed in the net by Bailey Lausee Bailey’s goal was assisted by Erin Thomas. The defensive line, led by Mallary Meyer, was able to keep most plays away from the goal. A shot on goal from Crawfordsville did sail in the net and brought the score to 2-1. Claire Gillen had seven saves in goal. The final score was 2-1.

The team is traveling on the road Tuesday, August 25th to North Montgomery. They will continue on an away playing pattern until September 10th.
