~From Coach Garry Anderson
Unlike the our previous meet at West Vigo, the temperature and humidity were much better for running in a cross country meet. The meet was held at Fountain Central High School on their new course. The course was not a spectator pleasing course but it was very great course for the runners. It was flat, fast and most curves were not extremely sharp.
Greencastle girls were the first team to start out the competition for the Tiger Cubs. They really set the tone for the rest to follow. Freshman Emma Wilson led the race from start to finish. She won with a time of 18:02. This was a new course record and also a new Greencastle girls record. Her win was two minutes and nine seconds faster than the number two runner, Kate Gerke, from McCutcheon High School. Outstanding runs were also turned in by the remaining Greencastle girls with many turning in personal best times. All the Tiger Cubs girls finished in the top twenty. This provided the girls with enough points to bring home the championship trophy. The competition was strong with state ranked #3- Seeger(small schools), Perry Meridian, North Montgomery, and McCutcheon all strong cross country teams. One of the exciting parts of the meet was at the finish with freshman Seelye Stoffregen and Senior Corrie Romer as they both were heading for the
finish line. Seelye nipped Corrie at the line to place 8th and Corrie 9th.

The race was filled with talented runners from several schools and provided an exciting finish. Team champion McCutcheon always bring a talented group of runners where-ever they compete. Greencastle runners competed hard throughout the meet and many had good times for this early part of the season. The new course was very flat and provided good footing for fast times.
