Raymond W. Shepherd, 66, of Cloverdale, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 15, 2015.
Ray was born on February 26, 1949, in Indianapolis to Raymond Shepherd and Virginia Thrett Shepherd.
He honorably served his country in the US Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat medic. A decorated veteran, he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Ray had been employed at Morton Buildings, Birkholder Building, Dalton Asphalt and had been a semi-truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece Laura Jackson – Featherston.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Darlene K. Shepherd; three children, Alan Wayne Shepherd and wife Brenda, Tina shepherd and Kim Miles and husband Bill; two step-children, Scott Wilson and wife Kristi, and Kim Horn and husband Gary; a sister Velma Crowe; a brother, Jeff Shepherd; a nephew, Donovan Jackson and wife Angie; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was an amazing father, Brother and Husband.
A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 12 Noon until 3 PM at the National Guard Armory, 401 N Arlington St, Greencastle.
