~From Coach Linda Patrick
The NPHS Lady Cougars travelled through heavy rain and lightning to Brazil on Monday to face the Knights of Northview. With thoughts of postponing the meet until next week after two lightning delays, the skies opened up with sun and clear skies to allow the golfers to take to the course.
Being only the Cougars second meet of the season, the nerves and jitters of this inexperienced team got the best of them. Northview, however, came out strong with the play of three seniors and one junior. Experience and poise make a huge difference in the playing field of golf. Northview carded an impressive 177 to the Lady Cougars 253. With the Cougars having three sophomores, one being totally new to golf, and one freshman with some middle school experience, they now know the difficult task that awaits them throughout the season.. Each individual player is already recognizing strong and weak points of their game and will strive to correct and improve the skills needed to do well in their first WIC conference meet on August 29 at Idle Creek Golf course in Terre Haute.
The Cougars play at home Tuesday, August 18, against North Montgomery and then travel to Western Boone to play in an invitational on Saturday, August 22. The invitational will give them a good experience of playing 18 holes in preparation for the conference.
