Greencastle Cross-Country Teams Win Season Opener

ghs

The Greencastle High School cross-country teams were at West Vigo Tuesday and both the boy’s and girl’s teams ran together due to a previous arrangement with West Vigo. All teams fought the high temperatures, very high humidity, the rigorous course with its sharp curves and short steep hills. With all of these obstacles both Tiger Cub teams came home with wins. The boys winning 27-29 and the girls winning 16-43.

The boys were able to place six runners in the top 10 to secure the win. However the girls weren’t to be shown up by the boys placed one through four and six in the top seven to win their meet. Freshman Emma Wilson won the girls meet with a time of 19:47 and putting herself in the top twenty five record book for her team.

Both teams were without some of the first line runners due to injuries and illness. Hopefully some of missing runners will be back by Saturdays meet at Fountain Central High School.
