On Thursday August 13 the Greencastle Police Department received a call at approx. 6:43 a.m. that the First Southern Baptist Church had been vandalized. As Officers were conducting their investigation; two other local churches were discovered to have been vandalized also St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. The Greencastle Police Department has interviewed a person of interest in this case; however no charges have been filed at this time. The Greencastle Police Department continues to work with the Greencastle School Corporation and DePauw University in reviewing video in and around the three churches involved in this incident. A report will be filed with the Putnam County Prosecutor Office. This is an ongoing investigation; anyone with information regarding the criminal mischief incidents at the three churches needs to call the Greencastle Police Department at (765) 653-2925 and ask for Officer Darrel Bunten or Detective Mike Collins.
